Hey everyone! I love to write and I love
wrestling so ever since Night Of Champions 2015, through multiple accounts, I
have been fantasy booking WWE PPV's in detail, and have been a wrestling fan
since 2005. Without further ado, here is How WWE Should Book NXT Takeover: New
Orleans.
> LAST YEAR’S WM-WEEKEND TAKEOVER POST: https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/62hdet/how_nxt_takeover_orlando_should_be_booked/
> PRE-SHOW:
* We get Charly Caruso, Sam Roberts and WILLIAM REGAL
HIMSELF as the panelists for the hour-long kickoff show. As usual, they hype up
the matches and give their predictions throughout the hour, and we're also
shown video hype packages. At one point Almas appears with Zelina Vega and cuts
an angry spanish promo. Regal talks about how proud he is of everyone on the
NXT roster and they give their predictions for the big matches. **As the clock
runs down it’s final remaining seconds until the main-show starts, we pan to
the stage and ring area where ladders are being set up all around the ring and
the new NXT North American Title is being suspended above the ring.
> MAIN-SHOW:
* The final show before we get to Wrestlemania.
Wrestlemania looks like it could be the best ever, and this Takeover card could
very well be the best ever, so let’s GET RIGHT INTO IT.
**1ST MATCH: Adam Cole vs. EC3 vs. Killian Dain vs. Lars
Sullivan vs. Ricochet vs. The Velveteen Dream (6-Man Ladder Match for the
Inaugural NXT North American Championship)**
* Velveteen Dream is out first and he’s got a big entrance
decked out in fancy persian prince-esque clothing and as he walks down the
ramp, there’s women on the ladders on either side of the ramp taking off his
gear for him as he stops and poses at each one. Out next is Lars Sullivan and
just straight up BOLTS to the ring. Next is Killian Dain and he has a normal
entrance. Adam Cole is out next accompanied by Kyle O'Reilly and then it’s EC3,
and the final man is RICOCHET. **The match goes 25 minutes**. Give these guys plenty
of time to pull out what could steal the whole damn weekend. Here are some
insane spots in the match:
* Adam Cole and EC3 are battling on top of a ladder in the
ring, each trying to grab the title. Lars Sullivan rolls in and LIFTS UP THE
DAMN LADDER WITH BOTH MEN ON IT. THE TWO ARE IN THE AIR AND LARS DUMPS THEM OFF
THROUGH THE ANNOUNCE TABLE ON THE OUTSIDE.
* Ricochet does lots of 7023 Dives off ladders into all of
the others in the match.
* LOTS OF HOSS BATTLES BETWEEN LARS AND DAIN. Dain puts a ladder
on his head and does the windmill ladder spot, knocking everyone that comes
toward him.
* A LADDER BRIDGE BETWEEN THE BARRICADE AND THE RING IS SET
UP BY LARS EARLIER IN THE MATCH. VELVETEEN DREAM CLIMBS A LADDER IN THE RING
AND DOES A PURPLE RAINMAKER ELBOW OFF THE LADDER THROUGH THE LADDER BRIDGE ON
THE OUTSIDE TO DAIN.
And much more. **The match ends as Ricochet and Velveteen
Dream are battling on top of the ladder, delivering forearms to each other,
dangling off their sides. They both grab the title and are yanking it back and
forth. It ends up coming unhooked but neither man can grab it before it falls
to the mat below, right where EC3 is laying. EC3 sees his opportunity and dives
for the title and rolls out of the ring. Rules of a ladder match are that the
first participant to gain possession of the title is deemed the winner*. The
finish would go down similar to this match from TLC 2010: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnO487LTVEE
**WINNER and FIRST-EVER NXT North American Champion: EC3**
* We get a backstage interview with William Regal. He
ensures that there will be a clear winner in the match between Gargano and
Ciampa tonight, and says that the result will forever change the course of NXT.
*We then go backstage to the trainers room and see Adam Cole being taped up,
and O'Reilly and the doctors debate whether he’ll be able to defend the Tag
titles later*.
**2ND MATCH: Ember Moon (c) vs. Shayna Baszler (Singles
match for the NXT Women’s Championship)**
* Shayna is out first followed by Ember. We get formal ring
introductions. **The match goes 12 minutes**. I really didn’t like their Philly
match at all, and I hope they’ll have a better showing here. Baszler losing
clean was plain stupid, so here she has to absolutely EVISCERATE Ember Moon.
She bullies her around the match ends in a TKO after Moon is too injured to
continue. Baszler is NXT Women’s Champion going into Mania where Rousey also
has her debut match.
**WINNER by TKO and NEW NXT Women’s Champion: Ember Moon**
* We get an ad for Tapout and then for NXT Takeover Chicago
II in June, and when tickets go on sale.
**3RD MATCH: The Undisputed Era (c) vs. Authors of Pain vs.
Pete Dunne and Roderick Strong (Triple threat Tag Team match for the NXT Tag
Team Championships and Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Trophy)**
* The ring announcer says the rules before the match and
the Dusty Classic Trophy is showcased outside the ring. Undisputed Era are out
first and Adam Cole is still limping and hurting from the ladder match. AOP are
out next and finally Dunne and Strong, who run down together and all 6 men
brawl with one another as the bell rings. **The match goes 14 minutes**. They
have tons of crazy spots, multi-man spots like superplexes and Towers of doom
galore. UE end up retaining the belts after Cole and KOR both blast Akam from
behind, and Akam flies into Rezar, squashing Roderick Strong in the middle, both
Authors falling out of the ring. Cole hits a Superkick on Strong for the win.
AOP shouldn’t win this since they’ve already won the thing before, and they
(BETTER) will be moving up to RAW after Wrestlemania, which by the way, after
it’s announced, presumably RAW after Mania, I’ll have a Superstar Shakeup post
detailing every trade that should happen between all 3 shows. Strong is pretty
much on 205Live now so he doesn’t need it, and Dunne is already a UK Champ, so
they won’t make him a double champion. Cole already lost his chance at the
North American title earlier, so it’s most sensical to have UE get the win,
retain the NXT Tag Titles, and become the winners of the 3rd ever Dusty Tag
Team Classic.
**WINNERS by Pinfall, STILL NXT Tag Team Champions and 2018
Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Winners: The Undisputed Era**
* The commentators thank the creators of the official theme
songs for the show.
**4TH MATCH: Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas (c) (w/ Zelina Vega) vs.
Aleister Black (Singles match for the NXT Championship)**
* Black is out first and his entrance consists of him in a
casket being lowered down from the rafters, into a circle of candles and
illuminati signs. The casket goes vertical and the door falls off to reveal
Black and he goes to the ring. Almas has a mariachi band play his theme with
Zelina. We get formal ring introductions. **The match goes 21 minutes**. I
think it’s really interesting how things work out, as last year at the Mania
weekend Takeover in Orlando, Black and Almas fought in an underwhelming
no-stakes singles match, and they fight again this year in New Orleans for the
NXT Title. Almas plays the heel and he hides behind Zelina whenever Black tries
to hit the Black Mass. Black hits the Knees on Almas through the announce
table. **The match ends after Black is out of commision in the corner and Almas
tries his running corner knees but Black springs up and nails a deafening Black
Mass for the win and the championship**. Almas would debut on Smackdown as a
top heel after Wrestlemania, following in the footsteps of Eddie Guerrero.
**WINNER by Pinfall and NEW NXT Champion: Aleister Black**
* We get the graphic for Gargano and Ciampa and get an epic
video package of how two men, once best friends, once NXT Tag Team Champions,
now want nothing more than to take the other out for good. This is the most personal,
most building, most anticipated match of the show. This needs to main event.
**5TH MATCH: Johnny Gargano vs. Tomasso Ciampa
(Unsanctioned Match; If
Gargano wins, he will be reinstated to NXT. If Ciampa wins, Gargano will be
banned from NXT)**
* Gargano is out first followed by Ciampa. Ciampa is decked
out in all black and has a black heart on his gear. **The match goes 35
minutes**. Give these two guys all the time in the world to steal the damn
show, tell a damn story and close out the best Takeover card of all time. These
two beat the absolute SHIT out of each other. They pull out every weapon you’ve
ever seen. They use chairs, tables, ladders, steps, kendo sticks, baseball
bats, brass knuckles, ring bells, thumbtacks, 2X4’s. They want to end each
other, but neither man will be ended. **The match ends as Ciampa pulls out
KEROSENE AND A TABLE. Ciampa spills all the fuel onto the table on the outside
and we get a shot of him looking evil as he whips out a match to light it on
fire. WILLIAM REGAL runs down as fast as he can and is yelling and telling them
to end this, tells them that they can’t do this, and a team of firefighters are
behind him. Ciampa and Regal get in each other’s face and then ducks just in
time to avoid a huge dive off the top rope from Gargano, who ends up
tackling Regal to the ground. Ciampa starts to beat up all the firefighters
with a chair and then picks up the match off the floor and lights the table on
fire to a huge pop. Essentially, to cut to the chase, William Regal ends up
turning heel and helps Ciampa get the win after he hits a nasty forearm to
Gargano. This isn’t Regal’s return to the ring or anything, just a huge swerve
to end the show, and him hitting one move. Gargano would go through the flaming
table, and then get pinned after a brutal running knee from Ciampa**. This feud
should never truly end. Gargano is banned from NXT, but he and Ciampa should
both be drafted to either RAW or Smackdown after Mania, and continue this for
the next 66 years. Regal turning and helping Ciampa might be controversial, but
NO ONE would be expecting it, and it’s a way to get Ciampa to GOAT heel status.
**WINNER by PINFALL: Tomasso Ciampa**
