How WWE Should Book NXT Takeover: Orlando

Hey everyone! Every month, days before PPV's happen, I share my thoughts on the show and card and how I would book the show that has unexpected swerves, returns, debuts, and a memorable show that would leave fans happy. If you want, you can read some past editions of these by clicking on my name and searching. I have been doing these for every PPV since Night Of Champions 2015. I hope you enjoy, and this is how I would book NXT Takover: Orlando.

  • OH MY GOD. I HAVE THIS, AND THEN WRESTLEMANIA TO DO. It is Wednesday morning.

PRE SHOW:

  • We get the usual panelists, and we get short backstage interviews with all 3 teams in the Tag Titles match throughout the kickoff, DIY, Revival and AOP. The panelists give their final predictions, plug the Wrestlemania kickoff the next day, and then we get to the main show.

MAIN SHOW

  • We get the opening video package and pyro.

1ST MATCH: Authors Of Pain (c) w/ Paul Ellering vs. #DIY vs. The Revival (Triple Threat Tag Team Elimination Match for the NXT Tag Team Titles)

  • AOP are out first followed by #DIY and then THE TOP GUYS. The match goes 16 minutes. Throughout the match, tensions boil between Gargano and Ciampa, with not tagging each other in, stealing each other's spots, etc. Revival are both on the outside, and Rezar is in the ring. Gargano and Ciampa get pumped up then go to the corners and hit the Knee Strike and Kick finisher. Rezar lumps to the grond and Gargano and Ciampa argue over who should get the pin. Out of nowhere, Revival run back in and throw Ciampa over the top rope. They hit the Shatter Machine on Gargano, and DIY are eliminated. We get a shot of Ciampa in pain, leaning against the barricade on the outside, sighing and looking angry and breathing heavily. Gargano holds his head and rolls to the outside to try to get Ciampa up. Gargano grabs Ciampa but Ciampa grabs Johnny's arm and tosses it away and then they stare at each other. Ciampa looks pissed, and Gargano is disappointed and Ciampa shoulder bumps Gargano and then walks toward the ramp. Gargano looks at the crowd and out of nowhere Ciampa runs back from behind and beats down Gargano to nuclear heat. He kicks Johnny against the barricade and beats him down. He screams that he's now "DONE IT HIMSELF". Gargano needs to be helped to the back by trainers and doctors. Revival and AOP brawl for a few more minutes, and Revival try to gang up on one AOP member at a time, running all around. Eventually, they hit the Final Chapter on both men, and cover them. AOP need to retain the belts here. They are a monster heel team. This would ultimately be Revivals' final NXT appearance, as what more do they really have to do? They'd be seen very soon after, though.... look out for my WM33 posts.

WINNERS AND STILL NXT Tag Team Champions: Authors Of Pain

2ND MATCH: Aleister Black vs. Andrade "Cien" Almas

  • Almas is out first followed by Black. Let me say, I really wish they just called him Tommy End. ALEISTER BLACK is not a very good professional wrestling name. The match goes 10 minutes, and near the end of the match, Almas tries to untie a turnbuckle pad and then the ref is distracted trying to put it back on. Almas drops down and low blows Black and Almas pulls out a schoolboy outta nowhere for the surprise win. I realize that End has just come to WWE, but I don't feel that Almas should lose at every Takeover and just be a jobber to the stars as it feels he's been booked. He is very talented. This feud could continue to one more Takeover, and I feel Almas deserves a win, dirty or not.

WINNER: Andrade "Cien" Almas

  • We see Tomasso Ciampa, all sweaty and looking determined and angry, walking backstage and we see Charly Caruso try to stop him for some words on his attack and betrayal of Gargano, but Ciampa just keeps walking.

3RD MATCH: Asuka (c) vs. Ember Moon (NXT Women's Championship)

  • Ember is out first followed by Asuka. We get formal ring introductions. The match goes 15 minutes. I feel like NXT offcials would really just want Asuka's reign to reach 365 days, as it would on April 1st, the date of Takeover Dallas where she won the title off Bayley. The two have a very physical match and Asuka puts Ember in the Asuka Lock on top of the announce table at one point. The match ends when Asuka kicks Ember in the gut, forcing her down to a knee, and then nails her with her kick. Asuka gets the cover, but Ember just gets her arm on the bottom rope which normally would break up the pin, but the ref doesn't see it. For now, Asuka retains the title. I'll have my match card for the next takeover, which we don't even know the date or title for yet, at the end of this post. The NXT after Takeover Orlano would see Ember win the title off Asuka in a No DQ match in the main event of that week's episode, which would be announced by Wiliam Regal later in this show. At Takeover, Asuka and Ember would face off one more time for the title in a Steel Cage match.

WINNER and STILL NXT Women's Champion: Asuka

  • We get an ad for Tapout, and one final ad for Wrestlemania the next day. We then go to the locker room and Hideo Itami is seen looking through his bag. Itami zips up his bag and turns to put it in his locker but Bobby Roode walks up in a glorious robe with his NXT title, walks in front of Hideo, shoving his bag down, and puts his title on the top shelf and closes it. Hideo asks Roode what his problem is, and then Roode says he can do whatever he wants because he is glorious and he is the NXT Champion. He shoves Itami and then laughs and walks away as Itami looks on.

4TH MATCH: SAnitY vs. Tye Dillinger, Roderick Strong, No Way Jose, & Ruby Riot (Eight-Person Mixed Tag Team Match)

  • SAnitY are out first followed by the babyfaces. The match goes 7 minutes, and SAnitY get the win when Young pins No Way Jose.

WINNERS: SAnitY

  • We go backstage to William Regal's office, and he's on the phone. Ember Moon storms in, and then Regal hangs up. Regal says he saw what happened out there with the Asuka match and the controversy with the finish, and he books the No DQ Title rematch for the main event of NXT following the show.

5TH MATCH: Bobby Roode (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (NXT Championship)

  • We get a video package before the match, and Nakamura is out first followed by Roode. We get formal ring introductions. The match goes 20 minutes, and one big spot in the match is Roode hitting a Glorious DDT to Shinsuke through the announce desk. The match ends when Hideo Itami's music hits and it looks like he's about to jump the ring but he just walks around to the timekeepers area and grabs Roode's NXT Title from the podium and holds it up toward Roode and points to it. Roode is distracted and then turns around and Shinsuke runs at him for a Kinshasa, but Roode ducks and Nakamura nails the ref in the face knocking him down. Roode recovers and rolls out and clotheslines Itami hard to the ground. Roode picks up his title and then rolls back in. Referee is still knocked out and Roode runs at Nakamura and whams him in the skull with his NXT Title. Roode hits a Glorious DDT to retain as another ref runs in to count the pin. Roode's music hits and he struggles to his feet but before he can do anything, Itami runs back in the ring and hoists Roode up for the GTS to a gargantuan reaction. He nails the GTS and Roode falls limp. Hideo goes to pick up the NXT title and bends down but stops and looks back at Roode. Itami goes and picks Roode up for a second GTS and then goes and poses on the top rope with the NXT Title. He drapes it across Roode's stomach and then motions that he's coming for the title. Takeover goes off the air with Itami standing tall over Roode.

WINNER and STILL NXT Champion: Bobby Roode

My Card For NXT Takeover: ?????

  • NXT Championship: Bobby Roode (c) vs. Hideo Itami
  • NXT Women's Championship: Ember Moon (c) vs. Asuka (Steel Cage)
  • NXT Tag Team Championships: Authors Of Pain (c) SAnitY (Killian Dain & Alexander Wolfe). Freebird Rule for SAnitY if they won.
  • Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa
  • Roderick Strong vs. No Way Jose vs. Tye Dillinger vs. Andrade "Cien" Almas vs. Aleister Black (Fatal Fiveway for No.1 Contendership to NXT Title)
