Hey everyone! Every month, days
before PPV's happen, I share my thoughts on the show and card and how I would
book the show that has unexpected swerves, returns, debuts, and a memorable
show that would leave fans happy. If you want, you can read some past editions
of these by clicking on my name and searching. I have been doing these for
every PPV since Night Of Champions 2015. I hope you enjoy, and this is how I
would Money In The Bank 2017.
Here's my post on MITB 2016: https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/4ov9pn/how_wwe_should_book_money_in_the_bank_2016/
PRE-SHOW:
- We get the usual panel and they give their predictions
and thoughts and hype up the matches throughout. A Social Media Lounge
segment is announced on Twitter earlier in the day with New Day. Use
#AskNewDay. A little more than halfway through the kickoff, we get to our
match.
KICKOFF MATCH: The Hype Bros vs. The
Colons
- THEY'RE BACK....... AND HYPER THAN EVER. Colons are out
first followed by the Hype Bros. The match goes 9 minutes, and Hype
Bros win with a Hype Ryder. I'd love a Zack Ryder heel turn on Mojo just
as much as anyone else, but I think since they just got back together they
should wait a while before the turn, maybe even a short SD Tag Title run?
WINNERS: The Hype Bros
We get New Day in the Social Media
Lounge, and then the panel gives their final predictions for the MITB matches
and we get to the main card.
MAIN SHOW:
- We get an opening video package with facts about past
MITB matches and cash-ins. We get the opening green pyro and the show
kicks off with Shane McMahon. Money rains from the ceiling of the
Scottrade Center and Shane has a mic. He talks about how big tonight is
and says tonight will not disappoint. He says he has the pleasure of
announcing that the Women's MITB Ladder match will open the show. He hands
the ref the briefcase and it's lifted above the ring.
1ST MATCH: Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte
vs. Natalya vs. Tamina vs. Carmella (with James Ellsworth) (Women's MITB Ladder
Match for a WWE SD Women's Title Contract)
- Charlotte is out first followed by Tamina, then
Carmella with James Ellsworth, then Natalya, and finally Becky Lynch.
There was a rumor floating around that a 6th woman was to be added to a
match, but apparently it was just a typo by a social media head within
WWE.
- The bell rings and all 5 women stand still. James
Ellsworth is on the outside and gives Carmella a ladder. Carmella walks
slowly to the middle of the ring and sets the ladder up and starts to
climb but all the women run and jump Carmella and push the ladder down.
Charlotte throws Carmella out of the ring and they brawl on the outside
and Tamina and Natalya gang up on Becky Lynch. The match goes 17
minutes. Some big spots in the match:
- Charlotte nails Becky with a Natrual Selection on a
ladder lying in the ring.
- Natalya locks Charlotte in the Sharpshooter on top of a
ladder, but Charlotte manages to escape and locks in a Figure 4 on Natalya
on top of the ladder. Tamina comes in and yanks Charlotte off the ladder
and powerbombs her to the floor.
- Charlotte hits a Moonsault off the top of a Ladder to
the 4 other women on the outside.
- Becky exploder suplexes Carmella into a ladder in the southeast
corner of the ring. Natalya runs at Becky but Becky catches her and Nattie
suffers the same fate.
The match eventually ends as
Charlotte is in the ring, and sets up a ladder. Charlotte is hurt and starts to
crawl up the ladder but James Ellsworth runs in and tips the ladder over.
Charlotte lands on her feet as she was only about 2 rungs up and then stares
down Ellsworth. Ellsworth looks scared and tries to get away but Charlotte
nails him with a Spear. Charlotte turns around into a ladder to the face from
Carmella, knocking Charlotte out of the ring. Carmella climbs the ladder and
unhooks the case to become the first ever Mrs. Money In The Bank. She and
Ellsworth celebrate on top of the ladder as Carmella poses with the case.
WINNER and NEW MRS. MONEY IN THE
BANK: Carmella (with James Ellsworth)
- We get an ad for Tapout, and then we get a backstage
interview with Jinder Mahal with him responding to Orton RKO'ing him last
Tuesday.
2ND MATCH: The Usos (c) vs. The New
Day (WWE Smackdown Tag Team Titles)
- New Day is out first and they're back with their
pre-match schtick. In a pre-match promo, Woods says that all 3 agreed that
Francesca was getting old and beaten up, so they'd like to introduce the
newest member of the New Day family, THOMAS THE TUBA. Just a bit of bad
comedy. Usos are out next. The match goes 15 minutes, as I feel this
has the potential to be really good. Big E and Kofi wrestle and Woods
has his new tuba. Big E goes crazy in the match as he catches Jimmy Uso
off the top rope and nails a Big Ending, then runs off the ropes and
Suicide Spears Jey to the outside, who was on the apron. The match ends
when Jey slides in the ring with a chair to DQ themselves for a retain but
Kofi nails a Trouble In Paradise to the chair and it hits Jey in the head.
Kofi gets the pin and New Day are once again your WWE (SMACKDOWN LIVE) TAG
TEAM CHAMPIONS.
WINNERS and NEW SDLive Tag Team
Champions: The New Day
- We get an ad for Great Balls Of Fire.
- We go to the arena, and suddenly Luke Harper's music
hits and he makes his way out. He gets a microphone and takes in the
crowd. He cuts a long passionate promo about how he should be in the main
event and should be in the MITB ladder match tonight. He says that he was
feeling great before Wrestlemania, as he thought he was heading toward a
WWE World Title match where he could finally take care of Bray Wyatt and
expose him but all of a sudden he was eliminated not even in the final 4
of the Andre Battle Royale on the kickoff show of Wrestlemania. Harper
gets a chair and says he's not leaving the ring until he gets what he
wants: a WWE World Title match and demands Shane come out and grant him
one. Instead, Tye Dillinger comes out and shares a similar story. Next,
American Alpha comes out and they talk about how hot they were in NXT, and
now they haven't been on TV in over a month. They all talk over each other
and finally Shane comes out and makes some big matches for SD. He books
American Alpha vs The Usos, who lost their titles earlier in the night vs
The Usos in a No.1 Contenders STEEL CAGE Match for Tuesday. He also makes
Tye Dillinger vs Luke Harper in a No DQ match for Tuesday. 4 hungry guys
who deserve better. Nothing like that type of storyline. American Alpha
would win the Cage match while also finally getting retribution on the
Usos, and Dillinger/Harper would end in a no contest after Kevin Owens
runs in and destroys both guys, angry about failing to win MITB, leading
to a 3-way US Title feud heading into Battleground.
- We get an ad for WWE Shop.
3RD MATCH: Naomi (c) vs. Lana (WWE
Smackdown Women's Title)
- Lana is out first followed by Naomi. I am extremely
anxious to see how this match turns out as Lana has wrestled about 3 pro
wrestling matches in her lifetime. The match goes 7 minutes, and
Naomi gets the win with a Split Legged Moonsault. Even with what happens
in Mahal/Orton, I don't think Lana should win the title here. Not even
just for heat. Rusev helping her wouldn't make sense, since man cannot hit
girl, so Rusev no crush. It's possible that Lana could win and the winner
of the Women's MITB could cash-in on her, but I'm saving Carmella's cash
in for the future. By the way, I'll have my full card for the next
Smackdown PPV, Battleground at the end of this post.
WINNER and STILL SDLive Women's
Champion: Naomi
- We go up to the kickoff panel for their thoughts on the
show so far. After that, we get an interview with Mrs. Money In The
Bank Carmella and James Ellsworth. She brags about winning the match
and out of nowhere Charlotte runs up and spears Carmella through the set
and all the usual backstage fight-breaker-uppers like Finlay and Jamie
Noble and referees run in to separate the two. We go to the arena, and
see crew members bringing ladders out to ringside. It's time to crown a
NEW Mr. Money In The Bank.
4TH MATCH: Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles
vs. Baron Corbin vs. Sami Zayn vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (2017
Men's Money In The Bank Ladder Match)
- We get a video package before showing every cash-in in
history and we get all sorts of numbers and stats about the match. Kevin
Owens is out first, followed by Sami Zayn, then Dolph Ziggler, then Big
Banter Breakfast Baron Corbin, then Shinsuke Nakamura, and finally AJ
Styles. The match goes 26 minutes. Here are some big spots in the
match:
- We get a ladder bridge set up between the announce
table and apron, and Baron Corbin is leaning over it as Zayn clubs him
with forearms. Zayn runs toward him and Corbin nails a DEEP SIX through
the ladder bridge. Sami is dead.
- AJ Styles is in the ring all alone and has his hands on
the briefcase, then Kevin Owens rolls in and pushes over the ladder.
Styles is falling and Baron Corbin is laid out on the announce table after
a Kinshasa from Nakamura, and Styles hits a Phenomenal Forearm on Corbin
through the announce table. Holy Shit chants 100% to ensue.
- Ziggler and Nakamura are both climbing opposite sides a
ladder, and Owens snatches Shinsuke off the ladder in powerbomb position
and powerbombs him onto a ladder lying between the ropes in the southwest
corner of the ring.
- Kevin Owens is climbing a ladder all alone and he has
his hands on the case. Sami Zayn springs off the top rope from out of
nowhere and DDT's OWENS OFF THE TOP OF THE LADDER TO THE FLOOR.
- All 6 men brawl on multiple ladders trying to reach the
case at the same time.
- End Of Days city on ladders; Corbin is stunned in the
corner and Zayn places a small stepladder on his head. Zayn runs and nails
a Helluva Kick through a ladder hole and Corbin topples over.
I have so many more spot ideas.. but
we need to see how this ends. A second ladder bridge seperate from the announce
desk one that Sami eats a Deep Six through is set up between the southern
barricades and the apron. The match ends when everyone is down and out except
for Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. The two race up opposite sides of a ladder and
try to grab the briefcase but they keep slapping each others hands away. The
ladder is facing north/south here. Zayn and Owens do their classic punching
spot on top of the ladder and Zayn ends up getting the best of KO and headbutts
him off the ladder. The crowd goes insane as Owens falls off the ladder and
Zayn sits on the top of the ladder and has his hands on the case. He's about to
pull it down when out of nowhere Baron Corbin picks up the ladder and Zayn
crashes through the second ladder bridge, pretty much the spot with Shelton
Benjamin from WM24. Here's what it'd look like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZtguLZK8e4
Zayn is limp after the crash and
burn and Corbin looks around and then unhooks the briefcase. Baron Corbin has
so much potential, and I saw some fans that were saying (including me) as early
as October/November that Baron Corbin should win MITB 2017, and now he has. He
has the potential to be a fantastic heel as he's began to show signs of.
Imagine BARON CORBIN winning over guys like AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura.
Instant star.
WINNER and NEW Mr. Money In The
Bank: BARON EFFIN' CORBIN
- We get an ad for SUMMERSLAM and the sponsor of the PPV.
5TH MATCH: Jinder Mahal (c) (with
The Singh Brothers) vs. Randy Orton (WWE Championship)
- We get a pre-match video package and it talks about how
St. Louis is Orton's hometown, and it shows Mahal disrespecting the Orton
lineage. THE MODERN DAY MAHARAJA is out first followed by the hometown
boy. Their match at Backlash pleasantly surprised me. It was not bad in
any sense of the word, and we got one of the greatest sells/botches of all
time with Orton flipping Sunil on the announce table and then knowing he'd
just killed someone after. The match goes 16 minutes. We get formal
ring introductions and as Orton is being announced Jinder and the Singhs
jump Orton and stomp him down in the corner. Orton manages to fight back
and nails an RKO to both of the Singh Brothers. Jinder knows following
that that he's screwed up and slides out of the ring and Orton chases him
around. Mahal catches Orton as he slides back in and the bell rings and is
about to hit his finisher but Orton reverses into an RKO. The ref counts
the pin and almost counts the 3 but Jinder gets his foot on the bottom
rope. The two fight from there. The match ends when JInder is down and
Orton does the viper taunt signaling for the RKO. Orton is in stance to hit
it and all of a sudden he eats a Superkick from the returning RUSEV.
The bell rings and Rusev beats down Orton to big boos. Rusev and Jinder
have a stareoff and it looks like they're about to reunite as a team. They
shake hands and then Rusev kicks him down low and Mahal doubles over.
Rusev beats him with the ring bell and then stands with his foot over
Mahal and holds up the WWE Title. The MACHKA era has overtaken The
MAHARAJA era.
WINNER by DQ: Randy Orton; however,
STILL the WWE Champion: Jinder Mahal

Don't
ask me about that handicap match. The rest of the card makes total sense, and
if you read the post you'd know why matches like that US Title match are
happening. Out of everyone, I was stuck what to do with Styles and Nakamura on
the show. Obviously I didn't
want to have them face each other, since that would preferably happen at
Wrestlemania, and I remembered Mike Bennett and Maria were set to debut on SD.
Maybe Mike could debut by attacking two of the biggest names on SD, and
Shinsuke and AJ teaming up could plant the seeds for their first interactions.
I don't really want that match, obviously. We'll see what happens, think the
rest of the card is good.
I hope you enjoyed! Tell me what you liked and didn't like, and what from this post you'd like to see on the show. At this point I'd usually be saying to look out for my post on the next PPV, which would be GREAT BALLS OF FIRE, but I'll be out of town that week, so I won't be able to do that show, and the next month and pretty much all summer I'm relatively busy, so I won't be able to do Battleground likely either. I will however definitely have the chance to do "How WWE Should Book Summerslam 2017", so look out for that in August! This will be my last one until then. Enjoy the show everyone!
